Cornish Day Sail Adventure on Grayhound!

May 1 @ 09:00 - 16:30 CEST

  • Voyage No. 1640

  • Join the Grayhound crew for a day of hands-on sailing where you will take part in some of the ship’s daily routines. You will learn about how to sail a traditional 18th century tall ship while enjoying the beautiful Cornish coast. We weigh anchor in the morning, have a meal at sea and be back in harbor in the evening.

The skipper and the crew dictates how to get the best out of the different wind directions and how the coastline of bays, headlands and drowned river valleys can be used to create the most enjoyable sailing for your day onboard.

We will pick you up in our rowing gigs out on the Customs House Quay. Once on board you will get a safety briefing by our skipper and then we will right away set sail from Falmouth and tack out between Pendennis Castle and St Mawes Castle. As we pass St Anthonys head we will know whether the winds will bring us up or down the coast. If we head up we will discover Place Creek beyond St Mawes and pass the highest point of the coast, Dodman Point. If we head down the coast we could start with a calm crusie up the peaceful Helford river. Further down the coast we reach the lighthouse Lizard (Britain’s most southerly point!). Either way it will be an experience of your life!
